Advent 2020 Bible Study

Come Quickly, Lord Jesus
Advent 2020 begins Year B in the Revised Common Lectionary. This study looks at the Gospel lesson for each week of Advent. Advent is the season when the church remembers the incarnation of God in the infant Jesus, and also looks forward to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
The main gospel for Year B is the gospel according to Mark, and for the first two weeks of Advent we will be looking at passages in Mark that speak to the once and future coming of Jesus Christ. The 3rd week of Advent is a closer look at John the Baptist, who testified to the arrival of Jesus in his time. For the 4th week of Advent, we will be looking at the story of the angel Gabriel visiting Mary, and Mary’s “yes” to God’s plan.
This study also asks some larger questions about how we read the Bible, including: what difference does the translation we read make?
This Bible Study meets at 11a PST on Tuesdays in Advent. Please email me for the zoom link!
